Goods and service tax (GST) is set to go live in India on 1st July 2017. This is the biggest tax reform as its going to replace around 18 indirect taxes. Naturally, there is lot of confusion around GST. In order to make business owner’s life easy, companies have launched GST mobile apps. At the time of writing this article, there were already 30+ mobile apps on GST on Android store!

How these GST apps are selected
We have checked every app mainly for ease of use and quality of information it provides. There is no point in installing an app which shows half screen advertisements. We’ve given preference to the apps developed by GSPs (GST Suvidha Providers) as they are more likely to update the app on regular basis. Importance has been given to the number of downloads and app store ratings.
Best GST Mobile Apps In India
1) Karvy GST
This app comes from the Karvy Group that provides various financial services. Karvy is one of the registered GSP and they have done a good job with this app.
You can easily find details about GST law, various forms, latest updates and GST Registration process.
App interface is very clean and there are no advertisements anywhere in the app.

2) Deloitte India GST Connect
Deloitte is also one of the GSPs. They mainly server enterprise clients. This app is very basic and user interface feels dull.
Most of the content in this app is static. They seem to have uploaded their research reports into the app. If you are looking for latest GST news, this app is not for you.
Deloitte needs to work hard on this app. They might have launched this in hurry just make their presence felt. There are no advertisements here but no quality content as well.
You can safely skip this app until a major overhaul is done.
Its available on both Android and iOS.
3) Tally For GST
Tally is an established accounting software provider in India. They are also one of the GSPs registered with GSTN. Tally has done a wonderful job with their GST mobile app.
This app is clean, Ad-free and easy to navigate. Quality of content is really good and every article is written in a simple language. You can learn about GST, its impact on business, latest news and events.
This one is the most respectable app among the current lot. I’m sure they will keep it updating.
Tally for GST app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
4) GST Helpline
If you are looking for latest news and GST updates, GST Helpline is the perfect app for you. You can get informative articles, process to get GST provisional ID, draft act, forms, final rates, HSN Codes and much more.
This is the most comprehensive app that I found so far for GST. App interface is clean and I did not see any advertisements.
I would strongly recommend to go for this app. No wonder this app has got highest ratings on app stores.

5) GST Bill Hindi
As most of the Indian businesses speak Hindi, I’ve included this in the GST mobile app list. In a simple language, this app will tell you the impact on your business. You can find out what will be cheaper and what will be expensive once GST is implemented.
This app is good for Hindi speaking business owners who want to get a basic idea about GST. Unfortunately, there are no news and advertisements are little annoying.
I hope the developers will keep updating this app as most of the content is static.
