2004 :  Dr. Kelkar force recommended the need of a national GST
Jan  2007:  1st  GST study  released by Dr. Shome.
2007: Consultation with stakeholder on GST Model
April 2007:  CST phase out started
May 2007:  Joint working groups appointed by empowered committee.
November 2007: joint working group submitted their reports
Feb 2008: The finance minister announced introduction of GST from 1st April 2010 in 2008-09 budget speech.
April 2008: Empowered committee (EC) finalized vies on GST structure.
Nov. 2009:  release of 1st discussion paper by the empowered committee.
Dec. 2009:  Task force of 13th finance commission to submit its report
22nd  March 2011:  Introduction of 115th  constitutional  amendment bill in the lok sabha .
19th Dec 2014:  Introduction of the 122nd constitutional amendment bill in the Lok sabha
Consultation on model inter-state   transactions, drafting of legislations, RNR and other issues –in progress
24^th April 2014: Government introduced a constitutional Amendment Bill in Parliament that will pave the way for implementation o f GST
1st  April 2016: target date of  implementation of GST
